A European Union naval force patrolling the waters off Somalia said Tuesday that a chemical tanker with 28 North Korean crew had become the latest in a string of ships commandeered by Somali pirates.
(Reuters) – A Virgin-Islands owned chemical tanker has been hijacked by Somali pirates off the Seychelles, the multinational naval force operating in the area said on Tuesday.
A Greek-owned cargo ship seized in April in the Gulf of Aden was released yesterday by Somali pirates who said they received $2 million (about 1.37 million euros) in ransom.
(Reuters) – Somali pirates freed a Greek-owned ship on Monday after the gang received a $2 million ransom for the vessel and its 21 Filipino crew, one of the pirates said.
